The Penny Arcade Expo is just 2 weeks away now and the full schedule for the weekend was finally posted on-line the other day. I was very happy to see Nerdcore For Life right there in the middle of the whole thing. I don't know why but our screening at the Expo almost fest to good to be true. I've been worrying that the PAX people would come to their senses and pull us or maybe bump us for a real movie or something. But here's the schedule and there we are in PDF form for all to see:
That's just the Saturday schedule. The whole thing is available on line here:

Now that the schedule is up, the nerdoshere is buzzing about what events, panels, lectures and screenings people are going to go to. There are a million things going on at once at PAX and if you don't have a plan of attack, you can wind up wasting your whole weekend playing games that you could have stayed home and played in your room.
Our screening takes place at 10PM on Saturday, August 30th. Luckily, not a ton of stuff is going on at that time. Mostly just some tournaments and "open play" sessions. However, our time slot does have one major disadvantage. It starts 30 minutes after the Saturday Night concerts start.
So this schedule presents a bit of a problem for Nerdcore fans since it appears that a PAX-goer would need to choose between seeing Nerdcore For Life or the "Godfather of Nerdcore" MC Frontalot perform live.
But fret not! Both are do-able and see-able in one evening! Word is that MC Frontalot will not be going on until midnight or later. In past years, the concerts have been filled to capacity and fans that didn't get a spot in line hours before the show didn't make it in. But now that the Expo has moved to a larger venue (the Washington State Convention Center) the concert hall is insanely huge. No one should be turned away because they've run out of space in the concert hall.
So theoretically, one could go to the Nerdcore For Life screening at 10PM and when the screening is done at 11:30PM (more like 11:24PM) they could head directly to the Main Theater and catch the end of the Thickets set and not miss a minute of Frontalot's performance. Then at 1AM they would sadly drop dead of Nerdcore Over-exposure. So bam, there you go. That's how you can enjoy another PAX to its fullest.*
*This plan is predicated on the belief that you can get into the concert once it's started. This is likely the case but you might want to check with an "Enforcer" when you get to the Expo just to be sure.
Yes, It's true. Nerdcore For Life
will be having an official* screening at PAX08! This year's PAX
schedule isn't official yet but I got the OK to start promoting the
screening. Lots and lots of Nerdcore artists from the film should be in attendance so it should be a really fun night. More details on that stuff later.
This is a major, major deal for us. It feels like a psychological victory. Honestly, it's almost kind of shocking to me that this is going to happen. In 2006 our crew slunk around the convention, hoping that our one press pass would keep us all from being kicked out for basically making a movie in the middle of the Expo. Actually, we didn't even have enough regular badges for everyone. If we needed a certain artist or crew person inside the convention center, some of our team would have to leave the building and hand off their badge. I didn't even think that the Penny Arcade folks would remember us. But they did. So.....see you at PAX.
*Official
as in the screening will be put on by the expo and won't just consist
of me walking around with a projector on my back.
